Wine Country Recipe ~ Citrus White Wine Spritzer

July 17, 2015

Summer is the perfect time to sit back, relax and sip a cool and refreshing drink.  Beat the heat and try this yummy white wine spritzer at your next summertime gathering.  Of course, no spritzer would be the same without your favorite Temecula Valley Pinot Grigio!

Ingredients:

2 lemons, zested
2 small oranges, zested (or 1 large orange, zested)
1 bottle Pinot Grigio wine
3 cups sparkling water

Directions:

In a small bowl, toss the citrus zests together. Divide the zest mixture among an empty ice cube tray, top with water and freeze for 3 to 5 hours.

In a large pitcher, combine the wine with the sparkling water and the citrus zest ice cubes. Stir and serve.

Try one of these excellent Temecula Valley Pinot Grigio’s in your spritzer:

Cougar Vineyard & Winery ~ 2014 Pinot Grigio – 100% Pinot Grigio

Danza del Sol Winery ~ 2014 Pinot Grigio –  Intense aromas and flavors of honeysuckle, white peach, and juicy pears with notes of citrus. The sweetness of the bright melon flavors balances nicely with the crisp acidity.

Ponte Vineyard & Winery ~ 2014 Pinot Grigio – “Grigio”, meaning gray in Italian, describes the grayish hue of these grapes as they grow on the vine. This crisp, white wine can be enjoyed by the fireplace with your next hearty meal.

Robert Renzoni Vineyards ~ 2014 Pinot Grigio “Julia’s Vineyard” – Fragrant and mildly floral with subtle notes of green apple, lemon and pear, with a crisp refreshing finish.
